ANNUAL EDITIONS OF THE FESTIVAL DE LA CHAISE-DIEU

Founded in 1966 at the initiative of Hungarian pianist Georges Cziffra, the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu (Haute-Loire), has progressively become one of the most important summer gatherings of the French music scene.

In the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu, like at the other places in Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme where the Festival offers performances, soloists and prestigious conductors, orchestras and renowned chorales, but also young talent and emerging ensembles benefit from the framework of exceptional heritage sites to express their talent and share their passion for classical music with an ever-growing public.

Organised each year at the end of the month of August, the Festival is mainly dedicated to piano, symphony music and sacred music, but is also open to chamber music. It includes around sixty performances, thirty to forty of which charge admission.

For several years, and within the framework of a concerted policy of cultural development in the territory, the Festival engages in numerous activities of mediation and awareness among all publics. For example, it proposes itinerant concerts in neighbouring villages and conferences to help the public to better apprehend the works presented.
