Engaging territories towards safer mobility By nellie | July 2, 2025 Faced with the persistence of risky behavior on the roads, the Road Safety Association is implementing a unique approach in France: the “Safe City” label, which mobilizes local authorities around road safety. The objective: to make each municipality a committed player, in direct contact with its citizens, to strengthen prevention on the ground. To reduce risky behavior and establish a culture of road safety shared by all, the Michelin Corporate Foundation has partnered with the Road Safety Association to develop a comprehensive mobilization kit aimed at uniting numerous elected officials in the initiative. By the end of 2025, the number of certified municipalities will double, reaching 1,000 areas supported by these mobilization kits provided by the association. These kits include educational materials, communication materials, prevention equipment, and personalized support. They enable elected officials and local teams to organize awareness-raising activities throughout the year tailored to their area and target audiences, particularly young people and vulnerable road users. With the support of the Michelin Corporate Foundation, this regional initiative is gaining momentum. Methodological support helps structure actions, train local teams, and establish a lasting shared culture of road safety. By bringing prevention closer to citizens’ daily lives, the project fosters collective awareness and encourages lasting behavioral changes. The goal is not only to prevent accidents, but also to make caution a positive indicator of municipal commitment.
