Fostering an interest in science

Major technological, industrial, and environmental transitions are driving a growing need for scientific and technical skills in sectors that are strategic for the future.

Yet, many professions remain little known to young people, even though they offer rewarding, innovative, and meaningful career prospects. To address this challenge, Ingénieurs et Scientifiques de France (IESF) and the Michelin Corporate Foundation have decided to join forces to bring young people closer to the worlds of science, engineering, and business.

In this context, Ingénieurs et Scientifiques de France (IESF) and the Michelin Corporate Foundation are rolling out a program over three school years—from 2026 to 2029—aimed primarily at middle and high school students and their teachers.

Led at the national level by IESF and implemented with the support of regional IESF branches as part of the PMIS initiative (promoting engineering and scientific professions), it will enable the design, testing, and subsequent rollout of several innovative educational programs:

  • Buses for discovering companies and professions;
  • Immersive scientific and technical experiences;
  • Competitions and awards showcasing talent and innovation;
  • Meetings with engineers, scientists, technicians, and professionals;
  • Events raising awareness of industrial and technological issues.

These initiatives will be progressively implemented in the regions where Michelin operates, with the aim of creating tangible links between schools, companies, and professionals.

The program will rely on the joint commitment of IESF volunteers and Michelin employees through Michelin Volunteering. The latter will share their career paths, experiences, and passion for their professions to make scientific and technical careers more tangible, accessible, and appealing.

This grassroots approach is a key driver in helping young people better understand the realities of the professional world, develop their ambitions, and envision career paths they might not otherwise have considered.

Because the professions that will shape the world of tomorrow need the talent of today, IESF and the Michelin Corporate Foundation have chosen to work together directly with young people—opening up new possibilities and inspiring everyone to play an active role in the future.
