A major challenge for the future
Digital professions are among the jobs of the future, at the heart of economic and societal transformations. Yet, they remain largely inaccessible to women: in France, they represent only 24% of digital jobs (INSEE, 2023; Jedha Bootcamp, 2025). These disparities are largely explained by gender stereotypes and barriers to career guidance, which take root as early as adolescence.
This is why at this crucial moment the BECOMTECH association created JUMP IN TECH, an innovative program for girls aged 14 to 17.
Its objective: to broaden horizons, dismantle preconceived notions, and allow participants to discover firsthand the careers in digital technology, a sector brimming with opportunities and a major creator of skilled jobs.
After seven years of successful deployment in the Lyon Academy, BECOMTECH took a new step in 2025 with a pilot year in the Clermont-Ferrand Academy, supported by the Michelin Corporate Foundation. This expansion addresses a key objective: to guarantee equal access to digital opportunities across all regions, including those outside major metropolitan areas.
In 2025, the program raised awareness among 581 students in grades 9 and 10, including 382 girls, about gender equality issues, diversity in the digital world, and the range of careers in the sector. Among them, 22 girls participated in a digital skills initiation program, combining technical training, group support, and confidence building, culminating in a final presentation showcasing their achievements.
JUMP IN TECH‘s effectiveness also relies on its ability to scientifically measure its impact. The results are conclusive (impact surveys conducted by BECOMTECH, using the methodology developed with Agence Phare):
Since its creation, BECOMTECH has been working nationwide to promote more inclusive digital technology. In 8 years, the organization has impacted 37,735 people across 7 regions.
Making Sustainable Changes in Career Paths
Supporting JUMP IN TECH means investing in a long-term vision: preparing people for the jobs of the future while reducing gender inequalities. By working from adolescence onward, the program helps to foster a new generation of young women who are key players in the digital world, capable of envisioning themselves in these strategic sectors and finding their place within them.
More broadly, initiatives like JUMP IN TECH help to transform perceptions, enrich talent pools and build a digital world that is more inclusive, fairer and more representative of the diversity of society.
