In 2025, the Michelin Corporate Foundation joined forces with the SYLV’ACCTES association to support sustainable forestry operations in Auvergne over a three-year period, particularly in the forests of the Auvergne Volcanoes and Livradois-Forez Regional Natural Parks. The goal is to support private and public landowners in responsible forestry practices that preserve soil, water, and biodiversity.
To this end, the Sylv’ACCTES association has implemented a measured and sustainable management approach for the Auvergne forests. This sustainable management approach, also known as “sustained management,” ensures the resilience of Auvergne’s forests in the face of climate change and their role as carbon sinks, while reconciling forest production and tourism uses.
📅 On March 24, 2025, this ambition came to fruition with the launch of initial work at the Col de la Moreno in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park, a key step in the preservation of local forests, supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. It also marked the inauguration of the Auvergne Volcanoes Territorial Forestry Project, recently endorsed by all stakeholders, including the partner communities: Clermont Auvergne Métropole and the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park.
🌲 During this forest outing in a sectional plot of Allagnat at the foot of the Puy de Dôme, ONF officer Florence Pertile guided the group through a young 150-year-old beech-fir forest. Here, the forester’s job is to maintain diversity (beech, fir, Scots pine) while encouraging the emergence of new species such as maple and forest fruit trees.
🌱 Together, let’s continue to work for more resilient forests and a sustainable future!
