La Pietà returns to Albi

Last weekend, the Albi pietà was unveiled in the presence of Olivier de Rohan-Chabot, chairman of la Sauvegarde de l’Art Français, and Philippe Legrez, executive director of the Michelin Corporate Foundation.

The sculpture dating from the 15th century has been restored thanks to the backing of the Michelin Corporate Foundation and the help of la Sauvegarde de l’Art Français.

La Pietà or Virgin of Compassion depicts the Virgin Mary mourning Christ before his laying in the tomb. It can now be viewed in the treasury of the Cathedral of Saint Cecilia at Albi.
