Insula orchestra, founded in 2012 by Laurence Equilbey, performs at major French and European venues. In 2017, the orchestra moved to La Seine Musicale on the Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Insula orchestra has a dual role in the Auditorium of La Seine Musicale: on the one hand, the orchestra is in residence at the Auditorium and, as such, plays its home productions; on the other hand, it invites various artists to perform at La Seine Musicale.
Both missions are carried out by the artistic and musical director of Insula orchestra, Laurence Equilbey, whose purpose is to reconsider the formats and codes of classical music with the aim of drawing in new audiences.
The orchestra performs on period instruments, tailoring its sound to large auditoriums. Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Weber form the core of this repertoire. The project relies first and foremost on an emotional and stylistic research.
The Michelin Corporate Foundation became a Founding Partner of Insula orchestra and gives its support to the orchestra for its first three seasons on the Île Seguin.
The Foundation supports the artistic ambition and the season’s programming of the orchestra, contributes to the development of its activity and to its national and international influence, and participates in the development of innovative projects for the widest audience.
“I am very proud that five Founding Partners have joined the wonderful adventure of Insula orchestra right from the beginning of its residency at La Seine Musicale. Our orchestra set out a project that should meet all audiences. With our Founding Partners we share the same values of high standards and openness to all”, says Laurence Equilbey.
