On March 10th, 2016, on the occasion of the presentation in Clermont-Ferrand of the broad outlines of the French bid for the 2025 World Fair, Jean-Dominique Senard, President of the Executive Board of the Michelin Corporate Foundation, announced the support of the Group for ExpoFrance 2025.

In the presence of Olivier Bianchi, Mayor of Clermont-Ferrand, and Jean-Christophe Fromentin, President of ExpoFrance 2025, Jean-Dominique Senard recalled the strong links between Michelin and world fairs. Indeed, Bibendum, the Michelin Man, was born in Paris during the 1894 World Fair; and the Michelin Guide was launched at the 1900 Paris World Fair. This historical link is echoed in a common passion for innovation, notably for smart and connected mobility.

By supporting France’s bid, the Michelin Corporate Foundation shares its will to place men at the heart of its actions, “Helping people move forward” being a mean of furthering progress. It strives to promote attractiveness and diversity of communities, thus remaining faithful to the Group, which has always been both attached to its Clermond-Ferrand roots and also opened to the world. Indeed, instead of having the World Fair centered on Paris only, it is intended in the French bid to have the fair deployed around three aeras: central Paris, Grand Paris, and regional cities.

The Michelin Corporate Foundation is proud to participate in the influence of French culture and scientific learning in the world.
