West Encounters East: A Cultural Conversation between Chinese and European Ceramics

The exhibition “Un firmament de porcelaines” presented in 2019 at the National Museum of Asian Arts-Guimet (MNAAG) is currently at the Shanghai Museum until January 16, 2022, in an extended version entitled “West encounters East: A cultural conversation between Chinese and European ceramics”.

This enlarged exhibition is the result of collaborative work between several countries and museums around the world (France, Portugal, Holland, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, and China) and makes it possible to retrace the routes of trade and exchanges between Asia and Europe from the 16th to the 18th century, but also to better understand the Asian influences on art in Europe.

The Michelin Corporate Foundation was enthusiastic to support the Guimet Museum in this international collaboration.
