Created in 2018 by the Auvergne Food Bank and the support of the Michelin Corporate Foundation, the ESOPE 63 solidarity grocery store will expand in 2024 to meet growing demand from students in Clermont-Ferrand.
Entirely dedicated to students from the Clermont area in situations of temporary vulnerability, ESOPE 63 allows young people in difficulty to eat healthily and continue their studies as peacefully as possible. Every week, the grocery store records more than 700 student visits.
At the grocery store, young people benefit from extremely reduced prices and can buy good quality fresh products, frozen products, but also hygiene and cleaning products. The average student basket, made up of various foodstuffs to last a week, is €12. All grocery products are sold at 10 or 20% of their retail price.
The Michelin Corporate Foundation is pleased to have contributed in 2024 to the basement redevelopment project which enabled the grocery store to accommodate a meeting room, a large kitchen and to be equipped with a lift-charge. An overall rearrangement that frees up space in the upstairs grocery area for more efficient traffic.
