Built and fortified from the 11th to the 16th century near Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire), the castle of Saint-Vidal is one of the best preserved medieval fortress in the aera. It is a jewel of military architecture of Auvergne, and is listed Historic Monument.

Its new owner, who purchased it in 2016, has began to restore several rooms and rehabilitate the gardens that visitors can discover by strolling throughout thematic paths; he also stages shows dedicated to French culture and history with the help of professionals, actors and also volunteers. He is aiming at developing the fortress of Saint-Vidal into the main attraction for tourists in Auvergne.

“The cultural and heritage-centred dimension of this ambitious project appealed to us, and we are pleased to support it, especially because it has an impact on employment and involves a lot of volunteers,” said Philippe Legrez, Executive Director of the Michelin Corporate Foundation at press conference on November 17, 2017.
