House of life

Imprimer

As the result of a meeting between the Michelin Corporate Foundation and the Siel Bleu Association, House of Life, a programme dedicated to people having had cancer, was created. Acting as a real “decompression chamber”, it proposes stays of five days in order to resume everyday and professional life more easily and more serenely.

This support is essential after cancer because few solutions exist that enable people to share the loneliness, fatigue, pains and deep changes the disease can cause in everyday life.

It is precisely the purpose of House of Life: to accompany the persons who are about to return to active life, by organising for them a ”transition” stay, in a place close to nature.
A course around four main axes is proposed by a team of professionals:

➢ Being active (sports educators and yoga teachers),
➢ Eating healthy (nutritionists, cooks and gardeners),
➢ Exchanging and sharing feelings (writers and psychologists),
➢ Taking care of oneself and better managing stress (musicians, actors, sophrologists and socio-aestheticians).

Five stays have already been organised successfully in 2015 and 2016 in the Pas-de-Calais and Loir-et-Cher. The aim is that these sessions, which each time host between 10 and 15 participants, can be accessible to all those who wish to do so, according to their life-course.

In 2017, 12 stays are available between April and October: 6 will be held in Candé-sur-Beuvron (41) and 6 others in Landrethun-le-Nord (62).
