IL FAUT ALLER VOIR

Created in 1997, the association called Il Faut Aller Voir (you have to go see) brings together people who are passionate about travel and very keen on discovering other horizons and other cultures in the spirit of independence, far from beaten paths of traditional tourism. It favours an approach focused on human beings, being open to the other and respect of cultural differences.

The travel journal is a good representation of this new way of taking an interest in the world. In fact, whether it includes sketches, watercolours or stories, it is a reflection of the interest held by the person who created it in the culture in which he immersed himself, while also favouring encounters.

The Rendez-Vous du Carnet de Voyage is an artistic manifestation that pays homage to travel journals and literature. Each year, for one weekend during the month of November, the city of Clermont-Ferrand becomes a centre of exchanges between “carnettistes” (those who keep travel journals), amateur and professional, authors, directors and the general public.

This event offers an exhibition of journals, screenings and discussions, the chance to meet writers, participate in workshops and activities for children. Numerous prizes (including the Grand Prize from the Michelin Corporate Foundation) are awarded for the most beautiful travel journals.
