Where it can, in situations of humanitarian crisis, the Michelin Corporate Foundation plays its part in relief programs. In November and December 2015, the Tamil Nadu region of India and its capital Chennai, the subcontinent’s fourth most populous city, were hit by torrential monsoon rains causing devastating flooding. Over 340 people were killed, 200,000 made homeless and over one million directly affected by the disaster. Highways and railroads became impassable, bridges were submerged, airports closed, power supply cut, houses damaged, with ensuing health problems.

In the face of this human tragedy, the Michelin Corporate Foundation wanted to show its solidarity by bringing emergency aid to the people of Tamil Nadu.
